It's summer! And here at Vintage Meet Modern we are talking about this year's trends we love and this week is all about boho. Boho is all about being free spirited and having fun with flowing patterns, shapes, and layers. The best thing about boho is the versatility and creativity! It's all about mixing and matching and breaking the rules. Here are a few of our favorite trends and how VMM is the key to the finishing touch on your look.
Vintage scarves are the best because of their versatility. Some fun ideas to incorporate those colorful beauties into your look are to tie them on a handbag, such as this beauty Heidi, from @wishesandreality. Tie in a bow or just knot it on the base of the shoulder strap for a colorful silky pop of color. Another fun way to wear those scarves is tied up as a headband or bandana! You can rock this look with literally every hairstyle or length and that is one of the reasons we love it so much. Our last fave fun way to rock the scarf is adding one to your floppy summer hat for stepping up that beach or festival look.
Get creative with your vintage jewels and step up your bun game with cuff bracelets. A sleek top knot is the perfect contrast to a flowy dress. A wide cuff or bracelet around the bun takes it to the next level of chic. Crochet and embroidered details are huge this summer and adding sparkles wherever you can is a fun way to balance your look between soft and flowy and sparkly and bold. Those vintage necklaces covered in jewels can take your festival look to the next level when pinned in your hair or around a low updo!
"More is more and less is a bore" so layer those pieces up! We love a good maxi dress and they are so perfect for layering necklaces of different lengths. Try pairing a bold pendant on a long chain with a medium length beaded necklace or even a choker. And don’t forget about arm candy!! Don’t be afraid to mix pieces from different eras.
Get creative!! Lastly, but definitely not least- rings! Rings are a must. We at VMM are crazy about ring stacks. The key to layering those sparkles up is mixing big and bold with smaller rings in-between. Don’t be afraid to buy rings smaller than your ring size; you can wear them on the top half of your fingers for a more layered look!
